Support Habitat - Faith Support

All are welcome at Habitat. Habitat has an open door policy with those who become homeowners and those who help with the process. Habitat is an ecumenical Christian Ministry and works with people of many different faiths to build homes for families in need. Millard Fuller, Habitat's founder, based Habitat on three theological beliefs:

  1. Support

Putting Our Love Into Action – Millard believed that it was not enough to say that you were a person of faith, but in order to embrace God's love for us, we must put that faith into action helping our fellow human beings.

  2. The Theology of the Hammer – Everyone can manifest God's love by coming together using the hammer. People of all faiths can learn from each other by working together to help others in their communities. Even if we don't agree on some faith principles, we can agree that as a matter of conscience, everyone deserves a safe, decent place to live.

  3. The Economics of Jesus – By sharing how we have been blessed with others in need, God multiplies our efforts and blesses us even further. This is true for our supporters and homeowners alike. Because Habitat is a partnership, not a charity, our homeowners who have been blessed with this opportunity help other families as well. Their mortgage payments applied to our "fund for humanity" and used to support other homes being build around the county.

As a faith community, how are you called to help others?
