Construction Projects - Communities

Norristown

Construction Norristown is a charming community with its mix of Victorian mansions, traditional row homes and new housing scattered throughout the municipality. There's lots to do in Norristown as well – the Elmwood Park Zoo, the Schuylkill River Trail, shopping downtown are just a few activities that draw people to the area. Habitat has been working in the community for more than 20 year, providing 35 reconstructed and new units of affordable housing to the community. As the County Seat, it is essential for Norristown to remain a vital, accessible community for all. With about 50% of the population in rentals, Norristown leaders recognize that for Norristown to grow economically, affordable homeownership opportunities for all residents must exist. Habitat is committed to that vision. For more information on Norristown, visit their website. http://www.norristown.org/index.php

Pottstown

Construction Pottstown pride can be seen all around! This borough has stately mansions of days gone by and beautiful new riverside town homes to provide a variety of housing opportunities. It is also home to the Hill School and a vibrant downtown area. Pottstown is not without its problems though. 42% of the population rents there the poverty rate is almost 9%, almost double that of the rest of the county. Habitat has built 8 homes within the borough and our commitment to the community will continue well into this century. North Hills

Construction This is a small, uniquely centered neighborhood in the township of Upper Dublin on the boarder of Abington Township. North Hills has a rich history of community involvement, from the community center at its roots to the community swimming pool and ball field right in the heart of the community. The challenge in the North Hills community is that, by being situated less than 10 miles from Philadelphia, having great schools, a good transportation system and access to community services, folks who have grown up here can no longer afford to live here. The average price of a home in Upper Dublin exceeds $400,000. We have been blessed with 8 lots in which to build new affordable homes within reach there. We will begin construction on the last three very shortly. For more information on North Hills and Upper Dublin Township, go to their website: http://www.upperdublin.net/
