(*Habitat
for Humanity of Montgomery County volunteers
(Thrivent
\ Lutheran members should contact their church champions to arrange a
volunteer day.) Habitat for Humanity International has been building on faith since 1976, and here in Montgomery County it's no exception. Put your faith in action and build not only a home but a community. Join us for a day of fellowship, prayer and good times! Keep in mind that all construction volunteers must be 18 or older to work on site**. A work crew is typically made up of six people; if your group is larger than six, please request more then one site. Currently we are working on seven homes in Montgomery County: five new row homes in Norristown (Carriage Stone Project) and two rehab homes in Pottstown (Beech Street). Build days and activities*** vary week to week, larger groups should request a Carriage Stone home since the site is larger; we build there on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. We build on Beech Street on Saturdays only. To sign up for a work day register as the team leader on VolunteerUp to view our construction calendar. Reserve your spot by clicking on a day with enough spaces to accommodate your group size. Enter your group name and select the number the guests you are bringing with you. Keep in mind that the group leader counts as a member of the team so if you are reserving spots for ten volunteers please select nine guests. Have your team register with VolunteerUp but not sign up for any dates (the team leader would have already done this by including them as a guest.) Have you team also fill out the electronic waiver form before they come to their scheduled work day. (We will also have paper copies at each site but prefer to have the electronic waiver form.) If you have any questions, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator. See you onsite! |

Youth Groups **Youth groups can still help by making and delivering lunch for your group, joining your group in a morning prayer, or helping to organize a special worship service to raise donations for Habitat. Youth groups can also help with our Cans for Habitat Program. Habitat has posters, bumper stickers and other promotional items for your church to use to help promote the program. A member of your church or youth group collects cans and takes them to a local recycling center, records the pounds and amount of money you collected and in turn donates the funds back to Habitat. *** Every job is an essential piece in the Habitat for Humanity puzzle. Some activities that your group may be doing will be hammering, painting, lawn care and maintenance, trips to our local construction store for supplies, trash removal and the use of power tools. Please keep in mind that every job is important to Habitat, most of the work we do can’t be done by our staff alone, its volunteers like you that make all the difference in our day |

Don’t forget to check out our safety handbook and work day information forms to learn more about your day and your experience!
* Some non-corporate groups may wish to raise money or in-kind donations to help to cover the cost of the day. A suggested donation of $100.00 per person helps to cover the costs of materials, the trained site supervisors, the equipment needed for the day and bottled water. (For fundraising ideas visit the corporate team build day page.)
