MLK 2013 Spotlight

By: Darcy Gallouedec, Community Outreach Manager

This year's Martin Luther King Day of Service marked the 50th anniversary of Dr. King's march on Washington and we were honored to participate in this national commemeration with our own theme of "Building on the Dream."  Once again, it was an exciting day of community and service here at HFHMC thanks to all the wonderful, spirited volunteers and generous sponsors, including Panera (Eagleville), WAWA (Norristown), Wegman's (King of Prussia), Dominos Pizza (Main Street), as well as Whole Foods (Plymouth Meeting) who donated warm and wonderful breakfast and lunch items for our entire group!

Traditionally, MLK Day has been a fast paced work day of special projects focused on improving our internal organization and operations, and our MLK 2013 volunteers really stepped up in a BIG way!  Vangard was on hand, again this year, and offered their support painting, constructing display racks, new truck ramps, additional shelving, along with helping to organize merchandise for display throughout the Restore.  A second group of volunteers, from our volunteer community at large, responded to our call to action and joined forces to help complete the final clean out at our former office site on Cherry Street, which has been sold and will become home to a new music studio in that community!
