If you’ve ever wondered exactly what is a Habitat ReStore, how the stores support Habitat Montco, or just about any other Habitat ReStore related question, you’re in the right place.

What is Habitat for Humanity ReStore?

Habitat ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers. The items they sell are for the public and are similar to what you may be familiar with seeing in other home good stores. But Habitat ReStores have their own purpose.

The purpose of Habitat ReStores in Montgomery County is to contribute to the work of Habitat Montco. When you support your local ReStore by shopping, donating or volunteering, you are not only supporting your local community but also helping the Habitat Montco provide decent shelter.

Because the stock of the ReStore depends on donations, you never know exactly what you’ll find. It could be the brand new box of tile you’ve been needing to complete a bathroom project, or a vintage treasure you won’t find anywhere else. You can expect to find both new and gently used items throughout the store.

What donations does Habitat ReStore accept?

There are a wide variety of items that fall under household or building products, which Habitat ReStore accept. However, the items accepted at any given ReStore can vary for many reasons, including local requirements, store size and the amount of certain items the store already has in stock.

Most stores are often on the lookout for the following specific items, grouped by category:

Household items

  • Appliances
  • Furniture
  • Lighting and Fans
  • Seasonal Items, including Holiday Items

Building Materials

  • Doors & Windows
  • HVAC
  • Cabinets and Vanities
  • Plumbing Supplies
  • Sinks
  • Hand & Power Tools
  • Flooring
  • Hardware

When you are ready to donate, call the ReStore at 610-631-3149, or complete this online form to make sure they currently are accepting the items you would like to donate. How do you find your ReStore? We’re glad you asked:

How do the ReStore support Habitat Montco?

The Habitat Montco ReStore helps fund Habitat’s mission to end substandard housing by building strength, stability and self-reliance through its programs. Profits from the ReStore are put to use in your local community helping to fund the Home Buying, Critical Home Repair, Almost Home Financial Empowerment, and Neighborhood Revitalization Programs.

Do you offer donation pickup?

Feel free to leave a voicemail if you are not able to speak with someone right away.  Donation inquiries are generally answered in three business days.

Can I donate a car?

You sure can! You can even donate a truck, boat, bus, plane or other vehicle through Habitat’s Cars for Homes program. Head over to the Cars for Homes page for more information.

What does a Habitat ReStore sell?

The Habitat ReStore resembles a home improvement store — with the unique addition of furniture.

Our wide variety of quality goods result from ReStore donations we receive from people who live all over Montgomery County, from you or your neighbor after you’ve finished a home improvement project to furniture and other home goods stores that may donate their products to the ReStore.

The items you’ll find will range from brand new to gently used, and there will likely be a wide range of brands and styles. Of course, that’s not all you’ll find, so we recommend getting down to the ReStore today (and you may want to go back next week, too, to see what new items have arrived).

How can I support Habitat ReStore?

In all kinds of ways!

When you shop at or donate to ReStore, you are automatically supporting not only the store, but also Habitat Montco’s Mission. Additionally, the ReStore is always looking for volunteers. Sign up to volunteer today.
