Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing in our county.

Our mission is to build simple, decent houses in partnership with people from all walks of life, regardless of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, age, religion, national or ethnic orientation or physical disability.

We have been rehabilitating houses for people in need since 1989.  We have completed thirty-seven homes in the past 18 years, sold them to families at no interest, no profit and housed over 146 people (49 adults, 97 children) in Montgomery County.  The average cost of a Habitat homeowner's mortgage falls around $650, which includes monthly principal, taxes and insurance.  The mortgage payments go into a revolving construction fund used to pay for the building of future Habitat homes.  We currently build 4 houses per year and are looking into opportunities to expand throughout the county.  We have finished six houses in Pottstown and continue working in Norristown, presently on Jacoby & Green Streets.  It takes about 16 months for families to complete the program while houses are renovated, about $90,000 from donors and grants, and thousands of volunteer hours in construction and committee work.  We raise money only within Montgomery County, attaining funding through individuals, congregations, corporations, businesses and private grants.

To function on a day-to-day basis, our organization relies heavily on volunteers and other people with big hearts.  As always, we are excited about doing God's work in Montgomery County.
