Almost Home Junior Program Facilitator

Almost Home Junior Program Facilitator Volunteer Position

Overview: Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery and Delaware Counties is excited to announce that we are looking for volunteers interested in becoming Almost Home Junior Program Facilitators. The Almost Home Junior Facilitator will lead programming for up to eight children ranging in age from 1 year to 15 years old (there will always be at least two facilitators in the room). Facilitators will lead fun project-based learning activities and act as role models for the children. Becoming an Almost Home Junior is a new opportunity for Habitat volunteers to work directly with our youth and positively engage them in fun, educational activities.

Position Details: Facilitators will have the option of leading activities they create, or leading activities prepared by Habitat. Lessons led by Juniors can be interconnected, standalone, related to financial literacy, or related to other topics. Topics could include decorating banks and discussing the importance of saving, mini mural painting, breakdancing, creative writing workshops, or simple science experiments. Facilitators are encouraged to incorporate their passions, talents, and life experiences into the activities to allow them to be accessible role models for our kids. The Junior Program will run for two hours while the parents of the children in Almost Home are in class and will take place twice a week for 8 weeks. Facilitators can volunteer for one class or multiple classes.

This rewarding and interactive opportunity is open to anyone who loves working with children and offers great resume building experience by allowing facilitators to take the initiative in creating a curriculum. This position is ideal for young adults interested in pursuing careers in education or careers working with children. This is also ideal for retired educators and childcare providers who are looking for opportunities to share their passion for learning and teaching while enjoying a flexible schedule. Groups, organizations, and community members are encouraged to volunteer to share their talents and passions with our kids, and show them all the amazing abilities of their fellow community members! Dinner is provided for all volunteers!
